Finding a Drug-Free Solution for Insomnia
Finding a Drug-Free Solution for Insomnia
A considerable number of 35 million individuals have insomnia or a related sleep disorder to varied degrees. Recent estimates put the number of students who do not get enough sleep at around one-third. Numerous issues, both mental and bodily, can arise from insufficient sleep.
Unlike other "brain problems" on the ADD-Autistic continuum or depression, doctors and the general public do not treat sleep disorders and insomnia with the same level of seriousness. This is a major issue for many people, yet we tend to ignore it.
A "noise generator" is already in use by some of these patients to alleviate their sleep problems, and the results have been mixed. To hide the sounds of the outside world, people have turned to audio effects like babbling brooks, surf or sailboat noises, or even "white noise" (which sounds like constant TV static). Insomnia and other sleep disorders may find relief with any of these noise generators.
Many people also utilize a number of medicines that are often advertised on television. Nevertheless, as has been mentioned in recent news reports, these medicines can lead to a host of additional issues, such as inconsolability, physical decline, and sleepwalking!
Take note of how the commercials for these products are worded; the FDA-mandated "warnings" are especially important to pay attention to. Take note of the "weasel wording" that throws these potentially fatal side effects under the bus. As advertising and "spin" go, they downplay the severity of these health issues. Despite their best efforts to downplay the risks, these medications can and do pose serious health risks.
Take the time to consider these disclaimers if you intend to listen (or read) carefully. Words like "a few" or "some users" make most people assume "that is not me," yet in reality, it might be you. Is the potential for harm that these advertisements downplay something you are willing to risk? Examine these ads and spins closely.
Psychologists have made use of EEG biofeedback (neurofeedback) "training" for quite some time. More than 85 percent of people who suffer from insomnia find relief with this method. Unfortunately, only the wealthy can afford such expensive training, which ranges from $3,000 to $10,000. (The "time" spent by doctors is always costly.) I began leasing EEG BF equipment in 2000 and brought the total cost down to around one fifth of the average. Drugs were still the only option for middle-class and low-income families after that!
The idea that subliminal messaging could do the same "brain training" as EEG BF came to me out of nowhere in 2004. I recorded myself doing it, and more than twenty people were willing to put their faith in me enough to pay to take part in the study.
Findings were inconsistent. Despite the success in treating sleeplessness and sadness, the ADD/ADHD test population did not fare as well. I just attempted to increase one brain wave through repetition in the original audio. Typically, EEG BF will increase this one while simultaneously decreasing or controlling another.
In 2000, I also proposed the idea that increasing this specific brain wave (SMR 12–14 Hz) altered the brain's reaction to allergies and sensitivities. A number of test takers noted improvements in symptoms unrelated to the mental health issues they had first indicated. That my theory was true is evident from this. The fact that such "brain problems" can and often are caused by allergy/sensitivity reactions was something I, as an orthomolecular psychologist, was fully aware of.
A novel test that increased the SMR and decreased the theta brain waves was developed by me in 2005. Together with my partner, I was able to recruit more than a medium-sized group of volunteers; we paid them up to $100 apiece to guarantee that they would submit reports weekly for eight weeks. Everything went swimmingly with this test. Every single person who managed to finish at least four weeks without any problems saw significant progress. A small number of depressed children accompanied the majority of the ADHD children who volunteered. Those suffering from depression and insomnia were able to get relief within a span of four weeks.
March 2006 marked the end of this test. One intriguing thing to keep in mind is that absolutely zero participants in this trial requested a refund. We insisted on a "money back" guarantee upon successful completion of the 8-week trial. That is a resounding sign of achievement.
An even better option is this Auditory Training method! Combining the "noise generator" with a subliminal message allows it to be heard by the unconscious mind as an audio overlay. While subliminal training achieves "brain training" similar to EEG biofeedback, the calming noise generator overlay muffles ambient sounds. For dozens of customers, this combo has finally put an end to their sleep problems, including insomnia.
Outcomes are more persuasive than advertisements. After using Auditory Training for at least a week, every single one of the dozens of participants who suffered from insomnia or another sleep disorder was able to get a good night's rest.
One of the signs of depression is, of course, trouble sleeping. Additionally, all of these situations have been either fully or partially resolved by this innovative Auditory Training technique. A woman who had been suffering from depression and insomnia was able to overcome her illness and maintain emotional stability while she battled cancer.
Compared to EEG BF, this system has several benefits:1. You only need a basic CD player; there is no need for fancy gear.2. It is significantly cheaper than the pricey medications and costs a tiny fraction of what EEG BF does.3. Absolutely zero adverse effects. One of the benefits is that it helps with allergies. The fourth step is to put in a CD and fall asleep.
Let us find a less complicated and less expensive alternative to the harmful medications!
